''Both the lead actors were my first choices.''

One of the many new releases this week is the Nagendran directed Kaaval, starring Vemal and Samuthirakani in the lead roles. The film talks about contract killers and cops. The director chats to us about the film ahead of its release.

"I chose Samuthirakani as he fitted the sincere and intense character. In Saattai, he was very impressive as the teacher. And Vemal suited well as a simpleton loafer without a job. He plays the carefree son of a cop who is driven to react, after being pushed to a corner. Both these actors were my first choices. Vemal accepted the film right away as he trusted me.

All the actors will be seen as characters and the cast will gel well with the film. The film's run time is 2 hrs 7 mins including all the credits, censor card and statutory warnings, and it will be a packed affair."

Cosmo Village would be giving the film a big release across the state
